The Okoboji volleyball knew it would have its hands full Thursday night traveling to play fourth-ranked Boyden-Hull in a Siouxland Conference match, and that’s exactly what transpired as the Pioneers fell in a three-set sweep, 25-10, 25-11, and 25-14. For the match, Okoboji had just six total kills, led by Skylar Hansen and Mikkinzie Peschong, who each had a pair of kills. Peschong also tied for the team lead in digs with eleven and blocks with two. Boyden-Hull remains perfect in league play at 5-0, while improving to 20-2 on the season. The Pioneers fall to 0-5 in conference play, and have an even 12-12 record overall.
Other matches in the Siouxland include Sheldon dispensing Sioux Center in three quick sets, 25-10, 25-23, and 25-20. Central Lyon also needed just three games for the match victory over Sibley-Ocheyedan, 25-14, 25-17, and 25-15, and George-Little Rock up-ended West Lyon, 25-23, 25-21, and 25-17.
Graettinger-Terril suffered another setback in Cornbelt Conference play, taking a four-set loss against Clay Central-Everly, 25-17, 25-23, 16-25, and 25-21. The Knights are now 1-3 in conference play, with the Mavericks improving to 1-4. Thursday night also saw North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted defeat Ruthven-Ayrshire, 25-11, 25-9. and 25-8.
Over in the Lakes Conference, top-ranked Western Christian secured another resounding three-set victory, taking down Cherokee, 25-11, 25-12, and 25-6.
North of the border, second-ranked Jackson County Central defeated Windom, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-19. Martin County West swept St. Clair, 25-18, 25-21, and 25-11. Fairmont handled its business against Minnesota Valley Lutheran, 25-16, 25-16, and 25-19. Marshall was victorious over Worthington, 25-8, 25-7, and 25-14, and Adrian defeated Round Lake-Brewster, 25-17, 25-22, and 25-17.
