Pioneers Lose Tight Matches at Triangular (Wrestling RoundUp) UPDATED

Okoboji wrestling took part in a triangular at Sioux Center and came away with two narrow conference losses, falling 36-30 in a dual with the host Warriors, and then 40-30 to Sheldon/South O’Brien. Taylor Cody recorded two wins by fall, and Tanner Taylor earned a major decision and a fall on the night. The Pioneers will participate in the West Hancock Tournament on Saturday.

Spirit Lake Park improved to 4-0 in Lakes Conference duals Thursday with a 65-12 thrashing of Cherokee, followed by a 51-21 defeat of LeMars. The Indians are now 6-0 overall and ranked No. 10 in the state of Iowa for Class 2A.

Also in the Lakes Conference, Spencer flexed its muscle in a triangular at Emmetsburg, beating Western Christian 69-12 and then topping the rival EHawks 60-10. Emmetsburg did notch one victory, besting the Wolfpack 42-33.
