Pioneers Girls Take Third, Boys Fourth in Siouxland Golf

One day after snapping MOC-Floyd Valley’s 31 match Siouxland Conference winning streak, the Okoboji girls golf team was unable to find the same magic on the Dutch’s home course Tuesday. MOC-Floyd Valley tallied a 180 team score, Sioux Center was second at 186, followed by the third place Pioneers with a 192. Kiley Wermersen and Kristina Kaiser shot matching 46’s to finished tied for sixth individually. Hannah Jones was a stroke back at 47 and Halee Morrow also pitched in with a 53. Amanda Raak of Sioux Center was meet medalist with a 40.

The boys’ tour stop was at West Lyon on Tuesday and MOC-Floyd Valley edged out the hometown Wildcats. The Dutch fired a 155 team total, West Lyon had a 157, Rock Valley took third at 159 and Okoboji was fourth with a 160. Ben Demuth tied for runner-up honors as he led the Pioneers with an impressive round of 37. Tyler Ohl carded a 40, James Halbur tallied a 41 and Mike Luhrs recorded a 42. Meet medalist was Ryan Christy of MOC-Floyd Valley with a 35.
