Okoboji continued its tournament play in Huxley on Saturday at the Boone Tournament. The Pioneers, who fell to the hosts on Friday, opened with a 4-3 upset of 11th-ranked BCLUW, Conrad. In their final game, Okoboji dropped a 12-3 game against Woodbury Central and now owns a 4-4 record.
Spirit Lake, which scored 31 runs in two wins at the Sheldon Tournament on Friday, racked up another 26 runs in two more games on Saturday. The Indians topped Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley in extra innings, 11-8. Cara Vale drove in two runs, scored two more, and pitched the last frame for the W. Spirit Lake then lost a high-scoring battle with Sioux City North, 16-15, and sits at 6-5.
Harris-Lake Park ran into some tough competition at the Newell-Fonda Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Wolves’ lone win was a 6-3 victory over Laurens-Marathon. Sandwiched around that victory was a 10-0 loss to the fourth-ranked Mustangs and a 10-2 setback against 12th-ranked Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto. Harris-Lake Park’s record is 3-5.
Estherville-Lincoln Central hosted its annual tournament, which was won by top-ranked North Union. The Warriors defeated the ninth-ranked Midgets, 7-6, as well as Spencer, 11-2. The host Midgets did defeat Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire by an 11-5 margin. The Tigers also topped GTRA in a shutout, 11-0.
At the Storm Lake Tournament, tenth-ranked Emmetsburg pounded out a 15-0 victory over Manson NW Webster, and a 6-2 win against Denison-Schleswig.
