A Memorial Day tradition continued Monday in Spencer as the Okoboji softball team notched its third straight win of the season, and over the Tigers, with a dominating 10-0 decision in six innings. Mikkinzie Peschong hurled a two-hitter, issued two walks and recorded nine strikeouts to take the win. The junior also went 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in and another scored. Mary Eckard also turned in a 2-for-3 effort and touched home plate three times. Kiley Wermersen and Hannah Hawkins each notched a pair of RBIs. Amy McLaury took the loss for the Tigers despite allowing just five earned runs and striking out seven. The Spencer defense committed eight errors as they fall to 1-2 on the young season.
The Pioneers improve to 3-1 and will be back at it Tuesday with a home game in Milford against county-rival Harris-Lake Park. The game can be heard on KUOO Campus Radio and online at www.Network1Sports.com beginning around 6:45pm with the pregame.
