Recent Spirit Lake graduate Mitch Peschon is garnering more praise for his accomplishments on the baseball diamond this summer. Peschon was named to the Class 2A All-State First Team as a second baseman by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Assocation. Peschon led the Indians in nearly every statistical category for hitting and pitching in his senior campaign. He was also named first team all-conference and all-district in 2011, while also being chosen to play in the IHSBCA All-Star Game Series. Peschon will play baseball next spring at Northwestern College in Orange City.
Also earning all-state honors from the coaches association were Storm Lake teammates Carsen Anderson and Michael McCabe. Anderson was selected as a utility player on the first team, while McCabe is listed at shortstop on the second team.
