The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association completed their All-Star Game Series over the weekend in Council Bluffs, and Spirit Lake’s Mitch Peschon proved he belonged with the state’s top players. The recent graduate helped the Small Schools West squad go 2-2 and finish third in the tournament. Peschon propelled his team to its first victory on Friday, smashing a three-run homer in a 12-6 win over the Small Schools East squad, whom they would beat again on Sunday in the consolation game, 10-8. They lost both their contests against the two Large School teams by scores of 8-4 and 5-4. This marked the 35th year of the IHSBCA All-Star Series and the first year that it included a graduate of Spirit Lake.
