Kade Heikens filled the role of hero on Thursday as he lifted the Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer team to a dramatic 2-1 double overtime win against Grinnell in the Class 2A quarterfinals. SLP-O trailed 1-0 in the second half when the sophomore connected on the equalizer 14 minutes into the action. The teams remained locked at 1-1 into a second overtime period when Heikens found an opening again and found the back of the net for the game-winner, less than two minutes before the end of the period. The win, SLP-O’s 15th of the season, sets up a match with Norwalk on Friday. Norwalk advanced with a 3-1 win over ADM, Adel.
