Spirit Lake girls’ golf remains one of the hottest teams in the area, winning their third straight meet. The Indians, playing in five-team invite at Estherville-Lincoln Central, took the team trophy with the only sub-200 score at 196. Second place belonged to Emmetsburg (206), followed by Spencer in third (218), ELC fourth (218), and North Union fifth (225). Whitney Berkland claimed another low round, carding a 47. Hannah Weidemeier came in second at 49, Kelsa Berkland and Taylor Reitz finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with rounds of 50.
No individual female golfer has performed better than Okoboji’s Alex Mankle, who on Tuesday made it four straight individual Siouxland tour meet victories. The freshman fired a round of 40 in Rock Valley, claiming the crown by six strokes over Jurnea Harberts (46) of Sibley-Ocheyedan. As a team, Okoboji finished with a 212, good for fourth place. MOC-Floyd Valley was top dog (202), with Sioux Center (207) and Sheldon (209) also near the top.
The boys Siouxland tour meet stop was at Sibley-Ocheyedan, providing an opportunity for the hometown Generals to get back on track, which they did. S-O shot a remarkable 155 for first place honors ahead of MOC-Floyd Valley at 160. Okoboji placed fourth with a 167.
