The boys golf team at Okoboji high school came through in the clutch yesterday, shooting a 163 team total to win the final Siouxland Conference tour meet on their home course and claim the overall conference title in 2010. They beat MOC-Floyd Valley in the overall standings by two points after the Dutchman finished third behind Boyden Hull at Emerald Hills. Matt Ohl was the meet medalist with a 1-over-par 37, while Caden Thurgood’s 41 finished fifth best. Ohl, Thurgood, Matt Baschke, James Halbur, and Jeremy Wollenburg all earned first team all-conference honors.
The Pioneer girls went to Orange City to finish their conference schedule and wound up in with a second place finish in the meet behind overall Siouxland champion MOC-Floyd Valley. Okoboji was 14 shots off the pace for the meet and ends the year in third in the standings. Kiley Wermersen, Kristina Kaiser, and Hannah Jones all shot 48’s to earn first team all-conference selections.
And Graettinger-Terril finished atop the leaderboard of a triangular with Clay Central Everly and Armstrong-Ringsted. The Knights shot a 173, led by Cody Dyhrkopp’s runner-up score of 40. CCE was second with a 180 as Brandon Full earned medalist honors with a 37. The Mustangs shot a 216 team total.
