Okoboji To Host Coaches vs Cancer Night, Friday

On Friday, January 25th, the Okoboji High School
Athletic Department, Lakes Regional Healthcare, and the American Cancer Society
will be hosting a Coaches v. Cancer Night in conjunction with 9th
and Varsity girls and boys basketball games against Rock
Valley at Okoboji
High School in Milford.
All fans are encouraged to wear maroon as the gym will be a “Maroon Out”
to show support for the cause of cancer awareness.

There will be a tail-gate party starting at 500 PM in the
new gym lobby served by Lakes Regional Healthcare.  They will be serving chili, a bag of Fritos,
a cookie, and a bottle of water for $5.
The 9th girls and boys basketball games will begin at 445 PM,
the Varsity girls game at 615 PM with the Varsity boys game to follow.  All coaches will be coaching in sneakers
during the games in support of cancer awareness.

Each building in the Okoboji School District
is having a “Coins for Cancer Building Battle” the Monday through Thursday
leading up to Friday’s game.  The
building with the most money from coins will give their building principal a human
sundae at an assembly on Friday, January 25

Two lucky contestants will also have the opportunity to shoot
a half-court shot to win $250 cash at halftime of the Varsity girls game.  Tickets for this opportunity are on sale at Okoboji High School and each ticket is $1 – and
there is no limit to the number of tickets a person can by.  The drawing to determine the contestants will
occur right before the start of halftime at the Varsity girls game.

Several outstanding sponsors have teamed up with the Okoboji
High School Athletic Department in this project – Lakes Regional Healthcare, the
Okoboji Booster Club, the Lakes News Shopper, Salon 1111, Oak Hill Marina,

All proceeds from all promotions will be donated to the
