Okoboji Takes Down Rival Wolves (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

Taylor Poppema’s 26 points ignited the Okoboji girls basketball team to a 54-46 win over Harris-Lake Park on Thursday. Poppema turned nine steals into 15 points off turnovers, however, head coach Abby Goodlaxson believes sophomore Skylar Hanson was the X-factor with 14 points. The Pioneers went 19-for-35 from the free throw line in the win. HLP was paced by Anna Brandt and Mariah Gath, who both dropped in eleven points. Gath connected on three triples. Afterwards head coach Jenni Spooner says too many turnovers and a 4-for-11 effort at the free throw line proved costly. Up next for Okoboji is a Siouxland Conference contest at George-Little Rock on Friday, while the Lady Wolves travel to Ruthven-Ayrshire. You can hear that game live on Q102 and at ExploreOkoboji.com.
