In pursuit of a Siouxland Conference wrestling title this winter, the Okoboji Pioneers picked up two crucial dual victories Thursday night, and simultaneously set up a potential winner take all dual for next week. Okoboji secured a 56-21 victory in the opening dual against Sheldon/South O’Brien. Up by a point through seven matches, the Pioneers rattled off seven straight wins, three by fall and one major decision between the 113 and 152 pound weight classes. In the nightcap, Okoboji took advantage of four straight pin fall victories from 120 pounds through 138 pounds to wrap up an eventual 44-33 dual win over Sibley-Ocheyedan on Senior Night. Kaleb Vanderpool (120), Brody Linn (132), and fourth-ranked Zach Jones (160) each tallied two wins by fall, while Cameron Arnold (126), Taylor Cody (138), third-ranked Tanner Taylor (182), and Blake Manwarren (285) also went a perfect 2-0 with one pin fall victory each to help the cause. Okoboji improves to 5-0 in conference duals, setting up a crucial double dual at MOC-Floyd Valley next Thursday. The triangular will feature the one-loss Dutch, along with fellow undefeated Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
