Okoboji Splits Hoops Doubleheader, Wolves Boys Win Again (Basketball RoundUp)

Okoboji and Emmetsburg split a non-conference doubleheader on the basketball court Thursday night. The E-Hawks used a 13-0 shutout in the first quarter to take the boys matchup 57-41, despite seven three-pointers from the Pioneers. Brian Dubois knocked home 13 points to pace Okoboji, which drops to 1-13 overall. Nick Wuebker led all scorers with 16 points, with two other E-Hawks reaching double-figures. Emmetsburg improves to 12-1.

In the girls contest, the Pioneers stepped up the defensive pressure in the second half to limit Emmetsburg to just nine points, en route to a 40-31 victory. Paisley Jones had 12 points for Okoboji and Paige Naig registered a game-high 21 for the E-Hawks. The Pioneers are now 4-11 and Emmetsburg falls to 5-9. Okoboji returns to Siouxland Conference play this evening when they host West Lyon for a doubleheader. It will air live on Q102, as well as at ExploreOkoboji.com.

Harris-Lake Park continues to make progress towards a Cornbelt Conference title in boys basketball, taking down rival Ruthven-Ayrshire 49-33 last night. The Wolves are now 5-0 in league play.

In non-conference hoops play, Storm Lake St. Mary’s handled business at Graettinger-Terril, defeating the Knights 57-28. Nate Lenhart had 14 for the 8th-ranked Panthers. G-T was paced by Beau Craig’s eleven points and now sit at 3-9 on the year.
