Okoboji, SLP Find Success at Sioux City Relays (Track & Field RoundUp)

Rain cut short the events of Saturday’s Sioux City Relays, which included the track and field teams of Okoboji and Spirit Lake Park. The SLP boys finished the day with three second place finishes. Keith Byers in the 1600-meters (4:26.09), Will Norris in the 3200-meters (9:50.80), and the 4×200 relay team (Luke Kabele, Aric Waltz, Bryson McCabe, Kevin Martinson – 1:32.02) all earned silver medals. Zach Jones highlighted the effort for the Okoboji boys, taking first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.07. The senior also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles (56.91), just ahead of teammate Chris Albright in third place (57.59). Jones capped the day by again winning the 110-meter hurdles in the “Elite” division with a sub-15-second time of 14.91.The Pioneers also earned a third place time in the 4×800 relay (Joe Hilsabeck, Taylor Cody, Albright, Jordan Hanna – 8:15.05).

On the girls side of the competition, Spirit Lake Park’s top performance came in the 4×200 relay, as Carter Hassel, Kendra Stokke, Emma Dau, and Taylor Sieperda teamed up for a third place time of 1:52.94.
