Okoboji Edges HLP in OT Battle (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

A back-and-forth game between Okoboji and Harris-Lake Park needed more than the allotted 32 minutes of play to decide a winner Thursday night in Lake Park, and in the end, the Pioneers snuck out a 39-35 overtime victory from the Wolves. Okoboji led the game after the first and third quarters, while HLP led at haltime and rallied in the fourth to outscore the Pioneers 10-5, forcing the additional four minutes tied at 35-all. In OT, Skylar Hansen converted the lone field goal, while Abby Taylor went 2-for-4 from the free thrown line for the Okoboji win. Hansen finished with a team-high thirteen points, while Faith Bartlett pitched in with eleven points. Harris-Lake Park received a game-high 15 points from Noreen Morrow. Mariah Gath also reached double-digits with eleven points, including two 3-pointers. The two teams combined for 46 turnovers and went a collective 6-of-19 from the free throw line. The Pioneers have now won six straight against HLP. The Wolves, at 1-2, will hit the road for their conference opener at West Bend-Mallard next Tuesday. Okoboji sits at 2-1 overall and will seek out a second Siouxland Conference win Friday when George-Little Rock visits Milford, a game that can be heard on Q102.
