Okoboji’s boys’ golf team made another serious push towards
the top spot in the Siouxland Conference on Thursday, winning the tour meet at Sioux Center.
The Pioneers came in with an impressive team score of 151, counting four sub-40
scores. Sibley-Ocheyedan placed second at 152. The General’s Tristen Roetzel
was meet medalist with a 35, while James Halbur of Okoboji was runner-up with a
37. Tyler Ohl, Wes Burgeson, and Ben DeMuth all carded rounds of 38 for the
Pioneers, who now trail MOC-Floyd
Valley by five points in
the standings.
The girls of the Siouxland met at Boyden-Hull, where MOC-Floyd Valley took the team title. The Dutch
carded a 180 team score, ten strokes better than Sheldon (190).
Sibley-Ocheyedan placed third (197), while Okoboji came in seventh with a 209.
Kiley Wermersen paced the Pioneers with a 46, Alex Mankle came in with a 49,
Danielle Anderson registered a 55, and Erin Richey counted a 59. Kalyn Root of MOC-Floyd Valley was the medalist at 40.
