The Boys and Girls Cross-Country teams from Spirit Lake High School qualified for the State Cross-Country meet, yesterday afternoon, with their performances at the District meet in Holstein.
The Spirit Lake Boys placed second, as team, behind the Boys team from Okoboji High School, which also qualified for State. The Spirit Lake Girls placed third.
The Indians’ Will Norris and Tanner Goetsch both qualified individually. Norris placed first among all boys, Goetsch took fifth.
The Okoboji boys had three finishers in the Top 15, to lead the Pioneers to their first place team finish. Joe Hilsabeck, Ryan Chindlund, and Colby Kraninger finished 10th, 11th, and 12th, respectively.

Spirit Lake’s Dondi Schmidt placed second among all girls, and teammate Mariah Wills took fourth, to qualify, individually, for the state meet.
Okoboji’s Clare Eckard finished sixth, and was an individual qualifier for the Pioneer girls, who placed seventh as a team.
