The Spirit Lake softball team took control offensively against Armstrong-Ringsted last night in a 16-3 non-conference win in six innings. The Indians recorded ten hits to improve to 12-8 before a showdown this evening with second-ranked and conference frontrunner Emmetsburg.
Sibley-Ocheyedan returned the favor of a home loss last week against Harris-Lake Park with a 3-1 win over the Wolves Tuesday night. Kim Jacobsma hurled six innings of four-hit, one-run ball for the win. The Generals scored two runs on two hits and an error in the third to separate from a 1-1 tie. The top half of the order accounted for all but one hit and all three runs. HLP was led by Noreen Morrow’s one hit and a run driven in. Mariah Gath scored that lone run after her hit in the first. The Wolves are now 5-13, while the Generals improve to 3-13.
Also last night, Emmetsburg beat Algona 4-0 and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn fell 8-6 to LeMars Gehlen Catholic.
