In a make-up doubleheader from the Cornbelt Conference, North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted swept a pair of games from Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire. The girls’ contest ended with a 77-26 rout by the Eagles, dropping the Knights to 3-14 overall and 1-9 in conference games. They will take a thirteen game losing streak into Friday’s game with Harris-Lake Park on Q102. As for the boys’ matchup, NSK/AR maintained a narrow lead throughout for a 55-47 victory. RA/GT received eleven points a piece from Mitch Girres and Carter Williamson, along with ten points, nine rebounds by Dylan Fischer. The Raiders fall to 4-13 on the season and now 4-6 in league games. They will also try to snap a losing streak, a six game stretch, when Harris-Lake Park comes to town on Friday. That game will be carried on Q102.
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn traveled to Sibley-Ocheyedan on Saturday for a non-conference twinbill that was controlled by the Generals. Sibley-Ocheyedan tallied a 60-44 win over the Hawks in the girls’ game. Bridget Doeden dominated with a double-double of 25 points and twelve rebounds as Sibley-Ocheyedan improves to 7-10 this winter. A 14-point differential in third-quarter scoring decided the boys’ contest, with the Generals grabbing a 60-44 decision. Caleb Hartwig led all scorers with 20 points, while Harrison Feldkamp registered a dozen points and rebounds. Sibley-Ocheyedan sits at 4-11 overall. HMS’s top scorer was Blake Simons with 19 points as the Hawks drop to 6-11. They travel to West Sioux for a doubleheader in War Eagle play this evening.
Other games on Saturday saw LeMars and Sheldon split a doubleheader. The Bulldogs pounded on the Orabs in an 81-45 triumph in the boys’ matchup, which followed a narrow one-point decision between the girls, 38-37, in favor of Sheldon. The Emmetsburg boys defeated Sioux Central in a tight non-conference showdown, 49-46. Western Christian topped Bishop Heelan, 66-56, in a battle between two top boys’ teams.
North of the border, the Worthington boys ran away with a 76-54 victory over Sibley-East, however, the Worthington girls dropped a 66-54 contest to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.
