The high school volleyball playoffs continued Tuesday night with regional quarterfinal matches in two classes throughout the state of Iowa. The Class 1A results saw fourth-ranked Boyden-Hull advance past Remsen-Union in three sets (25-12, 25-14, 25-20). The Comets will take on Siouxland Conference rival George-Little Rock in the semifinals on Friday. The Mustangs needed four sets to get by another league rival, Central Lyon (25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20). The other half of the bracket includes #13 Bishop Garrigan, who defeated North Iowa in three sets (25-15, 25-9, 25-17), ready to take on Cornbelt Conference co-champion West Bend-Mallard, a four-set victor over Laurens-Marathon (25-13, 28-26, 26-28, 25-19)
In Class 2A, the other co-champion from the Cornbelt had their season end as North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted lost in three sets at seventh-ranked Sheldon (25-17, 25-15, 25-12). The Orabs, co-champions of the Siouxland, move to the regional semifinals Friday in Emmetsburg to take on Clarion-Goldfield, who knocked off West Hancock in five sets (27-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-19, 15-8). Unity Christian went to Paullina to defeat South O’Brien on the Wolverines home floor in a sweep (scores not yet reported), and the Knights will next square off with Sioux Center, following the Warriors win over Manson NW Webster in three sets (25-8, 25-23, 25-14). Also in Class 2A, top-ranked and undefeated Western Christian steamrolled West Lyon in three easy sets (25-5, 25-12, 25-11). The defending champion Wolfpack will play Friday against Hinton, after they advanced with a three-game decision against Lawton-Bronson (25-19, 25-14, 25-16).
