A local men’s basketball team will participate in the Semi Pro division of the 38th Annual Northwest Iowa Invitational Tournament. The tournament features over 100 teams from states including Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa. The team consists of former Iowa and Iowa State Basketball players as well as athletes from Spirit Lake, Emmetsburg, Algona and Estherville. Sponsors include Bank Midwest, Advocare/Jean Newman, Erpelding Voight CPAs, The Three Sons and Kemco Tires. The tournament runs from April 16th – 19th in Spencer. Playing times are TBD.
One local team will also feature former college standouts Adam (Iowa) and Sean (Iowa State) Haluska, Mike Smith (Iowa State), and Jeff Horner (Iowa).
