Milburn, Schmidt Complete Final Day of NJCAA National Golf Tournament

It was the final day of the NJCAA Women’s National Golf Tournament at the LPGA International Legends course in Daytona Beach, Florida. Iowa Lakes sophomores Macy Milburn and Meaghan Schmidt were both in action. With great weather all week for the tournament, golfers were able to shoot low scores. For the Lakers, Schmidt had the lower of the two scores shooting a tournament low for her with a 96. Fellow sophomore Macy Milburn carded a 109.

“Today was a tough day with both women playing their last round as an Iowa Lakes Golfer,” said Coach Andy Soper, “These two women are hard workers and great people and will be very successful in life. With both graduating as Distinguished Academic All-Americans its not a coincidence that that Macy and Meaghan made it to the National Tournament; it speaks volumes to their work ethic.”

“I’m definitely going to miss playing competitive golf, specially my teammates and people I’ve met. I’m glad I was able to play for both Coach Soper’s, I learned a lot about life in general from them. Also I’m glad I was able to experience the National Tournament experience it’s a great way to end my competitive career,” said Laker Golfer Meaghan Schmidt.

For the tournament, Milburn finished in 83rd place with a low round of 90 for the week total of 394. Schmidt finished in a tie for 90th place with a low round of the week on the final day with a 96, and a 404 total.
