The Estherville-Lincoln Central Midgets used a big start to grab a 6-2 victory over Spirit Lake on the softball diamond. Morgan Schichtl’s leadoff home run in the top of the second jump started a four-run inning. Kendall Bosch was the winning pitcher, throwing a four-hitter with ten strikeouts. Alli Gerking’s two hits led the way for a young Spirit Lake squad. The Indians are now 1-4 in conference and 9-5 overall.
One run in the fifth inning is all the softball Pioneers would need to get their ninth win of the season and fifth in conference, taking down the Generals 1-0. Keely Bracelin struck out ten and allowed just two hits. Kiley Wermersen had the game winning RBI.
Second-ranked Emmetsburg earned another resounding win in softball, topping Cherokee 12-0 in six innings. Madison Woodruff hurled a no-hitter with thirteen strikeouts. She also went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a home run. In all, the EHawks would hit four balls over the fence in the rout. And LeMars topped Spencer 7-1.
