One of the most memorable plays from this past Spirit Lake Indians football season is now in the running for a nationwide honor. All-District defensive back Bryson McCabe set the tone early in the state semifinal victory over West Marshall with a bone-jarring hit on All-State running back Dalton Ferch. The video of that play was entered into the MaxPreps.com MaxMadness Play of the Year contest, and has now made it into the final eight. Spirit Lake football already brought in $2,500 for the athletic program off a video submitted to State Farm’s Friday Night Feats contest. Local agent Scott Trautman entered Cody Poock’s halfback pass to Zach Herrig for a touchdown on the opening drive on the Homecoming game with Sheldon.
