Jackson’s Scott Benson has claimed the 2012 Northwest Iowa
Amateur Golf Tournament in Spencer over the weekend. Benson closed the
championship flight with a final round 72, finishing 17-under par for the
tournament and besting 354 other golfers. Brett Benson, also of Jackson, tied
for fifth at minus-ten. Also in the top ten were Andy Soper of Estherville,
placing eighth at eight-under, and Spirit Lake’s Jay Monahan, who ended in
ninth-place, ten strokes off the pace. The tournament was held at the Spencer
Golf and Country Club.
