Lickliter’s Future In Question

After Iowa’s loss to Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament, there is much speculation about the future of Todd Lickliter as the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Unconfirmed reports claim that Lickliter plans to resign and that Iowa will cite health reasons for the coach’s departure. Those reports coming from KCJJ in Iowa City are, at this point, strictly based on rumor. Iowa Sports Information Director Phillip Haddy has called those reports “completely false.” As heard on KUOO during the Hawkeye post-game show, play-by-play announcer Gary Dolphin read a short statement given by Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta:

“I’m so proud of our young men. It’s been a tough season, but the future is very bright with this group. With the season ending today, I’ll do what I do at the end of every year. I’ll evaluate 2010 and make preparations for next season.”
