Lakers Finish Fifth at NJCAA Volleyball Nationals, Liang Earns Honors

The Iowa Lakes Community College women’s volleyball competed in the Division II NJCAA National Tournament this past weekend and came away with a fifth place finish. The top-ranked Lakers defeated No. 6 Kishwaukee (IL) in five games (25-21, 25-20, 14-25, 16-25, 15-8) on Saturday. Iowa Lakes opened the tourney with a
sweep of Genesee (NY) in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-12), but would fall to eventual national champion Pasco Hernando (FL) in the second round (21-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-23). In their first consolation bracket match, the Lakers took down a familiar foe, Kirkwood (IA) in three games(25-16, 25-19, 25-11). Iowa Lakes was making its fifth trip in six years to the tournament. Xiao Liang was named to the All-Tounament team.
