The Iowa Lakes softball team will be making the trip east next week to play in the National Junior College National Championship after sweeping Central Community College of Nebraska yesterday in Estherville. Game one was controlled by hurler Julia Nealer. The freshman struck out eight in a 6-0 win. Christy Cabrera led the way in game two with a two-run homer and a grand slam in consecutive innings to propel the Lakers to a 17-0 win. Cabrera went 8-for-9 for the day with eight RBI. ILCC’s 57-9 mark ties a single-season school record. The Lakers will be one of 16 teams taking the fields in Normal, Illinois May 20-22.
