Lady Wolves Take Down G-T For First Win (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

In girls basketball from Tuesday night, Harris-Lake Park earned their first win by defeating Graettinger-Terril 44-10. Sophomore Lydia Brandt tallied a game-high 14 points and thirteen rebounds. Freshman Noreen Morrow had a dozen points and a dozen boards, and Anna Brandt handed out seven assists. Again HLP will travel to Okoboji on Thursday for a doubleheader on Q102.

In the Siouxland Conference it was Okoboji playing host to Sioux Center and falling 42-28 to the Warriors. The Pioneers trailed by just three at halftime, but were outscored 18-5 in the third quarter. Taylor Poppema tallied eleven points to lead the charge as Okooboji falls to 1-1 overall and in conference play.

Despite a late rally, Clay Central-Everly was able to hold off Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn for a 33-29 win to open their season. The Mavericks Emily Jobst led all scorers with thirteen points, but head coach Lester Tessum believes his team’s full court pressure on D secured the W. Senior Onica Jacobs and freshman Katie Mills tied for top scoring honors for the Hawks with nine a piece, and HMS coach Mark Japenga says mistakes with the basketball and on the glass prevented his squad from starting 1-0.
