Lady Indians Need Extras, Pioneers Lose Late

Spirit Lake and Cherokee also locked up in a hotly contested softball game, one that the Indians would win in extra innings. Tied at seven in the bottom of the tenth, Paige Krause doubled, allowing senior Caila Jones to play the role of hero with an RBI single to give Spirit Lake an 8-7 win. The Indians are now 8-4 overall and 1-2 in Lakes Conference play.

Also on Monday night, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley rallied in the seventh to score two runs and walk off with a 5-4 win over Okoboji. The Pioneers Keely Bracelin had a huge night, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a home run. She also pitched all seven innings, allowed just three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts. The Pioneers fall to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in Siouxland Conference play. And Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn continued their strong play on the softball diamond, defeating South O’Brien 14-0 in six innings.
