Lacey Invited to WNBA Draft

Iowa State women’s basketball star Alison Lacey has been invited to attend next week’s WNBA Draft in New York. Lacey is the first Cyclones player to be invited to the league’s draft. The invitation indicates that Lacey is expected to be taken early in the first round. Lacey hails from Canberra, Australia. She’s expected to be the eighth Iowa State player drafted by the WNBA and the first since Lyndsey Medders in 2007. Lacey is one of 14 players invited to the draft, which will be held on April 8. Lacey led the Cyclones to a 25-8 record and their second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament’s regional semifinals. Lacey averaged 15.8 points and over six assists per game this season. She was named an honorable mention All American by The Associated Press.
