Lacey Gets Set For Draft; Williams Decides to Transfer

The WNBA draft is Thursday and Iowa State star Alison Lacey has an invitation to the event in New York. That indicates she’s expected to be taken early in the first round. She led the Cyclones to a 25-8 record and their second straight appearance in the NCAA regional semifinals.

More Cyclone basketball news as sophomore guard Whitney Williams has decided to transfer. Cyclones coach Bill Fennelly announced Williams’s decision to leave the program in a statement released Tuesday. Williams started 14 games last season and averaged 5.9 points a game. Williams, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, shot 40 percent from the field and 87 percent from the free throw line. Williams says that while her two years at Iowa State were amazing, she feels like she’s being led in another direction. Williams will finish out school year in Ames and is undecided on her future plans.
