JACKSON, MN – Despite a week’s worth of rain. Hard work by
the track crew provided a great racing surface for racing
at the historic Jackson Speedway on Saturday, June 21.
Due to the uncertainty of weather during the week, the
37th Annual University of Okoboji Night was postponed
until Saturday, July 5.
For Saturday night’s racing, action, the Inaugural Cellan
Motorsports Clash for the Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine
IMCA Sport Modifieds put extra money into the purse for
the 22 competitors in the field. Additionally, 15 Bob
Boland Ford IMCA A Modifieds capped off the evening’s
racing action on Central Bale and Grind and The Pizza
Ranch night at the speedway. A total of 93 cars filled the
pits of the historic half-mile oval at the Jackson County
Fairgrounds.
Highlighting the evening was the Cellan Clash, a 10-lap
Texas Pursuit for the Sport Modified Class. Winning the
event with a Motorsports lap eight pass was Jason Andrews
of Okabena, Minnesota.
The night’s feature wins went to with Megan Lappegard of
Estherville, IA winning in the Yellowbook Sport
Compacts feature race. In the Loosbrock Digging Service IMCA
Hobby Stocks, Drew Barglof, Sioux Rapids, IA captured the
checkered flag. The Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine IMCA
Sport Modified feature win went to Kyle Steuber of
Fairmont, MN and in the Hometown Motors IMCA Stock Car
class, Jake Masters of Graettinger, IA claimed the
checkered flag. For the Last Deck 360 Winged Sprint
feature, Jody Rosenboom of Rock Rapids, IA earned the
checkers and winning the Bob Boland Ford IMCA A Modified
Feature was Dan Menk of Franklin, MN.
Racing action continues on Saturday, June 28 with Jackson
Town and Country Days, with racing action sponsored by
Hitch Doc and GCC Concrete. As a special added treat, the
evening’s races will be capped off with a fireworks
display at the speedway. Hot Laps are at 6:30 p.m. with
racing to follow.
