The head softball coach at Iowa Lakes Community College has announced he is moving on to Syracuse University, a NCAA Division I college.
Mike Bosch, has been coaching and teaching math at Iowa Lakes for 14 years, 13 of those years as Head Coach. During his time, he compiled a 525 and 236 record with the women he recruited to play for Iowa Lakes.
It is a bittersweet day for Iowa Lakes Community College as we are losing an outstanding softball coach, said Troy Larson, Athletics Director at Iowa Lakes. We are very proud of the job that Mike has done in his 14 years at Iowa Lakes. The softball program has had unbelievable success and is in great shape.
While this is a great opportunity for Bosch to coach at the NCAA Division I level in the big east conference, Larson pointed out that he will obviously be missed.
It is an opportunity that he could not pass up and one that would not have been possible without the success level that he has had at Iowa Lakes, Larson added. Iowa Lakes has helped prepare him for this job. That is what we want out of our coaches, to have a great amount of success at Iowa Lakes and to help prepare them for future opportunities. Good coaches get good job offers and Mike fell into that category.
At Syracuse University, Bosch will be an Assistant Coach in charge of pitchers.
It is definitely not easy for me to leave a place that has meant so much to my family and me, but I look forward to a new challenge at Syracuse, Bosch said.
With the departure of Bosch, Larson now looks to the future for Iowa Lakes softball.
The job search process will begin immediately, according to Larson.
