Iowa Lakes Names Competitive Cheer Coach

Iowa Lakes Athletic Director Troy Larson announced, Thursday
that Kara Chapman will become the new Head Cheer Coach for ILCC.

Chapman is originally from Iowa City,
but has been living in Council Bluffs
for the last four years.  After high school she attended Iowa Western
Community College where she competed
in the UCA College Cheerleading National Championship, the most prestigious
college cheerleading championship in the country; and continued toward her
four-year degree at Midland
University where she
competed in the NCA National Cheerleading Association Collegiate Cheer
Championship.

Following college, Chapman was hired as the head cheer coach
at Lewis Central
High School in Council Bluffs.  While at LCHS, Kara led
her teams to a 7th place state finish for AAA two years ago and a 4th place
state finish for AAAA last season.

“I am honored to be part of the Iowa Lakes Community College family, and am looking
forward to bringing great student athletes to the program,” said Chapman.

“We are thrilled to have Kara in place to run our cheer
program,” Athletic Director Troy Larson said.  “She has a great passion
for cheerleading and the positive impact it can have on student athletes at Iowa Lakes.”

Iowa
Lakes and Coach Chapman
are actively recruiting cheerleaders for next season.  Watch for details
