The inside-outside combo of sophomore KJ Veldman and senior Leah Hilpipre ignited the Spirit Lake Indians to a 59-52 win at LeMars on Friday night. Veldman hit eight field goals inside the three-point arc en route to a game-high 24 points, while Hilpipre connected on five three-pointers to tally 19 points. Spirit Lake now has double-digit wins on the season at 10-3, and improves to 7-2 in the Lakes Conference. The Indians will host Boyden-Hull tonight on KUOO Campus Radio.
Okoboji led by nine heading into the fourth quarter of their Siouxland Conference battle with West Lyon, but would get outscored 24-11 in the final eight minutes to fall by a 44-40 final last night. Taylor Poppema registered 15 points. The Pioneers finished 10-of-24 at the free throw line. Okoboji falls to 4-12 overall and 1-11 in conference.
