Indians, Tigers, and Midgets Compete in Tornado Invitational (Golf RoundUp)

The weather conditions may not have been ideal for golf over the weekend, but that didn’t stop a dozen boys’ teams from taking the links in Storm Lake on Saturday. The meet was won handily by Carroll Kuemper with a 307 team score, with the hometown Tornadoes in second at 320. Spencer finished in a tie for third (327) with Humboldt, followed by Spirit Lake in fifth (331). Estherville-Lincoln Central came in seventh place (343). The low round of the day belonged to Kuemper’s Matt Gute with a 73. The Indians were paced by a pair of 79’s from Corey Potter and Tate Hanson, and also counted an 83 by Scott Hummel, and a 90 for Zach Skopec. Spencer’s John Labernik went low for the Tigers with a 76, followed by a Marcus Knipe’s 81, and two 85’s on the cards of Lee Beneke and Wes Merrill. For the Midgets, a round of 79 for Logan Spoo started the scoring. ELC also registered an 83 by Max Brashear, an 89 from Tucker Milburn, and a 92 by Corey Reeves.
