Indians Sweep Lakes Conference CC Crowns, Okoboji Runs in Siouxland

The Spirit Lake Park boys and girls cross country teams are celebrating yet another set of Lakes Conference titles, after both finished atop the points standings at the conference meet hosted by Spencer. The boys ended with 35 points, 19 better than second-place Storm Lake. Spencer came in fourth, Emmetsburg sixth, and Estherville-Lincoln Central/Armstrong-Ringsted was incomplete. Alec Baldwin was the meet medalist with a time of 16:34, and teammates Will Norris and Keith Byers were following right behind with second and third place finishes, respectively. Kyle Anderson found himself in the top-ten, Gabe McCoy was 19th and Tanner Goetsch 21st. Spencer was paced by Ryan Bauermeister’s fifth place finish.

On the girls side, Spirit Lake Park’s 39 points were 29 better than second place Spencer. E-LC/A-R was fifth and Emmetsburg seventh. Individually, Briana Brunsvold ran a second-place time of 16:18, with KJ Veldman seconds behind in third place. Jessie Kabele ran in seventh place, Dondi Schmidt eighth, Justine Heinitz 19th, Hayley Welch 23rd and Liz Skogerboe 27th. Next up for the Indians in the District and Regional Meet next week Thursday at Unity Christian.

The Siouxland Conference held their season-ending meet in Orange City, as well, last night. George-Little Rock won the crown on the boys side, with Okoboji finishing in sixth place. Joe Hilsabeck ran a team-best time of 18:11 for the Pioneers, which was good for 14th overall. Taylor Cody ended in 18th, Chris Albright was 28th. Sioux Center blew away the field in the girls competition, with Sibley-Ocheyedan taking second and Okoboji sixth. S-O’s Leah Seivert was the meet medalist at 15:25, and Okoboji’s Clare Eckard was third at 16:06. Amy Dreesen of Sibley-Ocheyedan was fifth, Emma Thies 21st, and Marie Jeppesen 25th. Nicole Ballah and Jordan Duncan were next for Okoboji at 26th and 27th overall. The Pioneers will also run next Thursday in Orange City for the Districts and Regionals.
