Indians Roll On, Pioneers Settle for Another Tough Loss (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

The winning ways continued Friday night for the Spirit Lake girls basketball team as they secured their eight consecutive win and fifth straight Lakes Conference victory, 61-48, over Cherokee, sweeping the season series. Sophomore KJ Veldman again paced the Indians with 23 points, hitting four three-pointers in the process. Leah Hilpipre also reached double-digits with 15 points. Spirit Lake remains a game back of first place at 9-2 in the league and now 13-3 overall.

Spencer and Emmetsburg continued their rivalry last night, and the Tigers used a 32-point second half to trounce the E-Hawks 48-27. Ashley Williamson was tops with twelve points for Spencer, while Paige Naig had a dozen for Emmetsburg. Spencer improves to 7-4 in the league, while Emmetsburg drops to 3-8. The Tigers sweep the season series.

The Okoboji girls remain stuck on one win in the Siouxland Conference following last night’s 57-43 setback at Central Lyon.
