Western Christian buried six first-half 3-pointers to build a 16-point lead at the break against Spirit Lake on Friday. The eighth-ranked Wolfpack went on to earn 58-39 road win in Lakes Conference play. Combined, the teams hits ten triples, shot 40 free throws and turned the ball over 50 times. KJ Veldman led all scorers with 18 points, connecting on 9-of-12 from the stripe. Brooke Wolterstorff dropped in a team-high 15 for Western Christian, which improves to 10-1 in conference play. Emmetsburg had their way with winless Storm Lake on Friday, winning by a 76-13 margin. Nine different players scored for the E-Hawks, with Paige Naig scoring a game-high 25 points. The Tornadoes are 0-10 in league play, while Emmetsburg jumps to 4-6. They host Western Christian on Tuesday.
Spencer fell for the sixth time in conference playing, dropping a 36-27 road game at LeMars. The Tigers host Storm Lake next week Tuesday. Second-ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central stayed undefeated in Lakes games, taking advantage of a lopsided second quarter to win 69-25 at Cherokee. The Midgets will put their 11-0 league record not the line Tuesday when Spirit Lake comes to town.
A game Okoboji girls squad came up just a bit short in a home loss to Siouxland Conference foe Central Lyon on Friday, a final score of 53-44. The Pioneers turned the ball over a season-low thirteen times, but trailed for a majority of the game. Skylar Hansen was the lone player in double figures with game-high 17 points. The Lions received a 14-point effort from Jennifer Johnson and another dozen points from Kelsey Ackerman. Eighth-ranked Central Lyon climbs to 13-2 in league games. Okoboji’s mark is at 4-10 and they travel to Rock Valley on Tuesday.

The rest of the Siouxland slate saw Sibley-Ocheyedan fall by a 49-31 final at home to Sioux Center. Boyden-Hull more than double up West Lyon, 64-31. MOC-Floyd ran away from George-Little Rock in a 71-32 rout. Sheldon held on against Rock Valley in a 49-45 ballgame.
In the Cornbelt Conference, Harris-Lake Park lost their fifth straight game, a 57-40 decision at North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted. The Lady Wolves are 5-3 in the league and travel to CWL for a make-up game on Monday. Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire also came out on the losing end Friday, a 38-29 setback to non-conference opponent Trinity Christian. The Knights have dropped twelve straight, are 3-13 overall, and play Saturday at NSK/AR.
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn squeaked out a narrow War Eagle Conference win, taking down Akron-Westfield, 42-40. South O’Brien tallied a 63-34 victory against Spalding Catholic.
North of the border, Martin County West trounced Madelia, 68-27.
