On the baseball diamond, Western Christian completed a sweep of Spirit Lake with a 13-9 win in Hull. Four different players registered multiple hits for Spirit Lake. Mitch Peschon had two runs driven in and Nik Erickson scored three runs, while driving in another. Head coach Jason Schneider says the six errors committed on defense were too much to overcome.
The loss drops Spirit Lake to 6-10 overall and 2-6 in league games.
Okoboji scored double-digit runs; however, it would not be enough in a 13-10 loss in Milford to West Lyon. Tate Hanson led the way with three runs scored and two driven in. Ray Zalabowski scored three times. Zach Jones took the loss going just four innings as the Pioneers drop to 6-9 overall and 4-4 in the Siouxland.
Also last night, Storm Lake shutout Emmetsburg by a 5-0 final, and Sibley-Ocheyedan dropped a 10-0 contest to fourth-ranked Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
