Indians, Pioneers Shutout in Regular Season Finales (Football RoundUp)

A chance to gain a higher seed for the postseason is what was on the line for Spirit Lake last night as they traveled to Sioux Center, but the Indians could not find the end zone in a 28-0 setback to end the regular season. Spirit Lake turned the ball over four times, the first of which on a punt that led to Sioux Center’s first score, and the Warriors tacked on two more touchdowns to take a 21-0 lead at the half. Luke Kabele ran for 52 yards and caught a 27-yard pass, while Aric Waltz had 49 yards on the ground. Mitch Peschon struggled to a 5-for-14 night with 61 yards of passing and an interception. The loss means the Indians head to the postseason with a 6-3 record overall, 4-3 in district play and the number four seed, which means a date with third-ranked Southern Cal in Lake City, Iowa on Wednesday. That game can be heard live here on KUOO. Sioux Center, meanwhile, will play Kuemper Catholic in the playoffs.

The Okoboji Pioneers wrapped up their regular season with a contest at Sheldon, and came out on the losing end of a 47-7 shutout against the Orabs…Okoboji ends the 2010 campaign winless through nine games. Sheldon, which won the District title, will host JSPC in the opening round.
