A three-point second quarter turned a four-point lead into a twelve-point disadvantage as the Spirit Lake Indians fell for the first time in Lakes Conference play, 53-40 to Western Christian on Tuesday night. On the night, the Indians shot just 12-of-51. KJ Veldman dropped in 16 points, while Leah Hilpipre registered ten. Spirit Lake now sits at 4-1 in conference play and 5-2 overall, and will travel to Estherville on Friday to take on the undefeated Midgets.
Emmetsburg earned its first Lakes Conference win with a 44-26 victory over winless Storm Lake. Paige Naig with 12 and Nicole Leuer with 11 to lead the EHawks.
The defensive pressure put on by MOC-Floyd Valley was too much for the Okoboji Pioneers in a 73-27 setback in the Siouxland Conference. Paisley Jones notched eight points for the Pioneers, who are 1-7 in league play. Okoboji travels to Boyden-Hull on Thursday.
The Lady Wolves of Harris-Lake Park poured it on in the first half against Graettinger-Terril for an early double-digit lead and held on for a 47-24 Cornbelt Conference victory. HLP is now 8-2 overall.
