Indians, Pioneers Grapplers Earn Dual Victories (Wrestling RoundUp)

The Spirit Lake Park wrestling team improved its dual record to 4-0 with two Lakes Conference victories Thursday night. The Indians took down Western Christian 63-18 in the first dual. Zach Skopec, Mark Norland, Jacob Welch, and Casey Jones all record pins, and Isaac Lundgren won his match 10-4 against the undermanned Wolfpack. The second dual against Estherville-Lincoln Central was tighter than the 60-20 final score indicates, as numerous matches were close battles. Doug Miner, David Trucksess, Lundgren, Norland, Welch, Rick Maris, Brady Mart and Andrew Broocks all finished with pins. The Spirit Lake Park Indians are back in action this Saturday at the Jackson County Central Invitational.

Okoboji also took to the mats last night, and came away with a 57-15 decision over West Lyon in a Siouxland Conference dual. The highlight of the night was a 5-4 match win by Zach Jones over Jason VanGinkel at 160 pounds. Both wrestlers are ranked in the top-ten in the state of Iowa. Cameron Arnold, Cody Louscher, Tanner Taylor, and Austin Millard all notched wins by Fall on the evening.
