Indians, Pioneers Fall in Conference Play (Boys Basketball RoundUp)

In a game that saw numerous ties and lead changes throughout the night, Spirit Lake fell 48-38 at Cherokee in a Lakes Conference battle Friday night. Mitch Peschon dropped in three treys en route to 15 points and Paul Brown hit two more as he scored ten points. The Indians record now sits at 4-7 in conference and 6-11 overall. Spirit Lake and Cherokee split the season series.

Spencer completed the doubleheader sweep over rival Emmetsburg with a 62-55 win, while also grabbing a split of the season series. Matthew Klemme registered 20 points and Alex Hyde had 18 points for the Tigers, who improve to 3-8 in the Lakes. The E-Hawks received 22 points from Nick Wuebker and 16 more from Cory Schultes, suffering just their third loss in league play.

A rough shooting night led to an early deficit and another Siouxland Conference setback for the Okoboji Pioneers, falling 43-22 at Central Lyon. Okoboji hit just nine field goals on the night, shooting 18-percent as they fall to 0-12 in league play. Brian Dubois registered six points and pulled down ten rebounds to lead the Pioneers.

Beau Craig’s 18 points and Colin Leiting’s twelve led Graettinger-Terril to a 69-38 win over North Sentral Kossuth in Cornbelt Conference play.
