On the volleyball courts Tuesday night, the pink-clad Indians of Spirit Lake let a two-games-to-none advantage slip away and suffered a five-set loss, 13-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-9, 15-11, to Storm Lake on Pink Out Night. The Indians took games one and two, before the Tornadoes regrouped to win three straight games, including a 15-11 decision in the decisive fifth set. Holly Seemann, Cara Vale and Alexa Rodawig all notched seven kills. Whitney Berkland had 19 assists, 16 digs and six aces on the evening. Paige Krause finished with 11 assists, ten digs and five aces. The Indians are now 2-3 in the Lakes Conference with a showdown at Spencer coming up Thursday. In the Siouxland Conference, the Okoboji Pioneers fell for the fourth straight match, as well as for the eighth time in ten matches, dropping a four-set match to Central Lyon, 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-10. Leading the attack were Bryanna Wittrock and Mikkinzie Peschong, with seven kills a piece. Wittrock also had 17 digs on the night. Taylor Poppema finished with 14 digs, ten assists and two aces. Aubry Kolegraff recorded twelve assists, Mary Eckard had thirteen digs, and Peschong had a team-high four blocks. Okoboji is now 9-15 overall and 1-5 in the conference. In other Siouxland Conference play, Sioux Center defeated Sibley-Ocheyedan, 25-13, 25-16, 25-8.
Also, Ruthven-Ayrshire took down Armstrong-Ringsted, 25-11, 25-21, 25,-15.
North of the border, Martin County West defeated Le Center, 25-18, 25-8, 25-20, and
Round Lake-Brewster lost a three-set match to Red Rock Central, 25-10, 25-8, 25-13.
