Indians, Pioneers Both Fall By a Pair in Conference Play (Baseball RoundUp)

Two big offensive innings for Storm Lake propelled the Tornadoes to an 11-9 win over Spirit Lake in Lakes Conference baseball Wednesday. Three of the Indians eleven hits on the night ended up beyond the outfield fences, as Mitch Peschon, Paul Brown and Taylor Acton each had a home run. Spirit Lake sits at 11-3 this year and 4-2 in the Lakes.

Also in the Lakes Conference, Spencer fell to Western Christian by a 6-4 final. The Tigers can be heard tonight as they host Lawton-Bronson on Y100. And Estherville-Lincoln Central earned a 9-6 win over Emmetsburg. The E-Hawks’ Ryan Kliegl struck out ten in taking the loss, and Jake Carlson went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Emmetsburg remains winless in league play at 0-6.

In the Siouxland Conference, Okoboji fell short in their comeback bid against Sioux Center, taking a 4-2 loss on the road. The Pioneers scored both runs in the seventh as they attempted to rally from four down. Brian Dubois gave up seven hits, one earned run and struck out six in a losing effort. Okoboji falls to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in league action. The Pioneers return home Thursday for a non-conference battle with North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted. That contest can be heard live on Q102 and online at ExploreOkoboji.com.

Elsewhere in the Siouxland, George-Little Rock defeated Sibley-Ocheyedan by an 8-5 margin.
