Indians Outpaced by Bulldogs, Wolves Pull Away From Wolverines in Conference Openers (Boys Basketball RoundUp)

Spirit Lake held an early lead over LeMars in their Lakes Conference opener on Tuesday night, but the 8-6 advantage after one quarter quickly evaporated and the Bulldogs never relinquished the lead in defeating the Indians 50-42. Spirit Lake rallied to make it a one-point game early in the fourth, but could never get over the hump as LeMars converted 9-of-12 free throws down the stretch. Adam Dau scored eleven first half points to lead the Indians, with Wes Bergquist right behind at ten points. LeMars had a pair of players reach 17 points, as Austin Homan and Jordan Eisma combined to hit 14 field goals and make 6-of-7 at the line. The Bulldogs are 2-0 on the year, while Spirit Lake now sits at 2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. They host Storm Lake on Friday, a game to be broadcast on KUOO Campus Radio.
