Indians Net Weekend Baseball Victory

The Indians of Spirit Lake split a pair of games over the weekend at the George-Little Rock Tournament. Game one saw Spirit Lake bring out the big bats against the host Mustangs in a 16-1 win. Mitch Peschon led the way with four hits, including a home run, four RBI and three runs scored. Nik Erickson and Levi Davis also each had four hits, and combined for four more runs driven in. Game two was a little closer, falling just short in an 11-10 setback to Central Lyon. Davis had another good game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one driven in. Peschon recorded another pair of RBI. The Indians are now 6-9 on the season.

Other weekend baseball included Estherville-Lincoln Central and Clay Central Everly playing in the North Sentral Kossuth Tournament. ELC fell to CCE 14-7, while NSK beat Van Meter 9-5 in the opening games. The Midgets did get third place with a 17-3 victory in five innings against Van Meter. In the championship, it was North Sentral Kossuth 12 and Clay Central Everly 2 in five innings.
